Obituary of Joan Coleman

Coleman, Margaret Joan - Passed away on Monday, January 30th, 2017, at the Blenheim Community Village, age 97. Born in England to parents the late John Hollerhead and Edith nee Green. Wife of the late Cyril Coleman (1982). Loving Mother of Rob and wife Cheryl Coleman of Blenheim and John and wife Norma Coleman of Windsor. Beloved Grandmother of Ellen and her son Roman of Windsor, Kristine Armstrong and her husband Dan, their children Colby and Jace, and Melissa and Jarred VanGassen of the Blenheim area. Survived also by many nieces and nephews in England. Joan is predeceased by her sister Betty Grundy in England and grand-daughter Katharine. Joan was born in Liverpool and served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force from the start of World War Two until it's end in 1945. During that time she met Cyril who served in the Royal Air Force. In 1956, Joan, Cyril and their young family immigrated to Canada and settled in Blenheim. Joan was an avid curler, golfer, painter and pianist. She was also a Girl Guide leader and worked for many years at Stoner's jewelry store in Blenheim. A Private Family Service was held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, Blenheim. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185, 34 Catherine St., Blenheim, NOP 1AO.
