A resident of Chatham, Valere Vannieuwenhuyze passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus on May 22, 2017 at the age of 86.
Born in Dover Township, Valere was the son of the late August and Marie (Verbeke) Vannieuwenhuyze.
Beloved husband of 49 years to Irene (nee Stokes).
Loving father of Perry (Deb) Vannieuwenhuyze of Sombra, Cathie (Jerry) Vanek of Dresden and Bob (Lucy Mendonca) Vannieuwenhuyze of Chatham.
Proud grandfather of Clint (Jodene) Vannieuwenhuyze of New Zealand, Greg Vannieuwenhuyze of Mooretown, Adam (Lindsay) Brandon of Courtright, the late Kyle Brandon, Brianne (Jon) Barnes of Georgia, USA, Matthew Vanek of Dresden and Derek Vannieuwenhuyze and Jarod Vannieuwenhuyze, both of Chatham.
Great-grandfather to Harli, Olivia, Emma, Hannah, Amelia, Liam and Mila.
Predeceased by his brothers Jerome and Roger (late Cecile).
Brother-in-law to Paula Vannieuwenhuyze, Grace (late Bob) Lundy, Lyla (late Tom) Richardson, Faye (late Ross) Stokes and Joan (late Grant) Stokes, all of Chatham.
Predeceased by in-laws Jim and Ruth Wood, June and Clifford Civalier.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with Rev. Jill Rogers officiating. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Valere to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
