GOLDRING: William Douglas 'Doug' -

1925 - 2017

A resident of Chatham, Doug Goldring passed away at Riverview Gardens with his family at his side on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the age of 91.

Born in Goderich, Doug Goldring was the son of the late William John and Marion Douglas (Winegarden) Goldring.

Beloved husband of the late Olive Jean (nee Hastings) (2010).

Loving father of Leigh Carson (Maurice) of Sarnia, Ruth Ann Murphy (Dan) of Calgary and Lynn McLagan (Ron) of London.

Proud grandfather of Emma Lindsay (Tyson), Owen Carson, Evan Carson (Chantalle) and Sarah McLagan.

Great-grandfather of Ewan Douglas Lindsay.

Dear brother to Sue Cobb and Jane Goldring, both of Chatham. Predeceased by his sister Fran Lyons and brothers Paul Goldring and John Goldring.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Doug was a veteran, serving as a wireless air gunner with the RCAF during World War II.

Doug retired from International Harvester and Heritage Savings and Credit Union (formerly International Harvester Credit Union) after over 40 years of combined service.

He was a member of the former Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 28, the Parthenon Lodge No. 267 A.F. and A.M., Chatham and the AHCOM Shrine Club, where he was a tireless fundraiser.

Doug was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. He was a devoted family man, and loved traveling across Canada and abroad.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. A Masonic Service will be held Thursday at 6:45pm, followed by a Legion Service at 7:00pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham at 1:00pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 with Rev. Mark Sceviour officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Doug to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or Holy Trinity Anglican Church would be appreciated. Special thanks to staff at Riverview Gardens for their care and compassion.
