Obituary of Mildred Sweet
Sweet, Shirley Mildred
A longtime resident of Chatham, Mildred was born in St Catharines April 2, 1929, the second daughter of the late Thomas and May Hodgson. Sadly she was predeceased by her sister Bernice, her brother in law, Dutch DelMonte and their son Terry. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Wesly Sweet (2010), and was the devoted mother of Mark (2011) & Marlene of Belle River and Garth & Geraldine of Waterloo. Mildred will be fondly remembered by her grandjoys: Michelle (Gilles Sweet-Bulay), Trevor (Corrinne), Brandon (Katherine) and Fraser (Amy). Mildred was exceptionally close to her great grandjoys: Carly, Tielor, Brandon, Fraser, Parker, her namesake Millie, Adriana, Kerris, Taryn, Trent and Cohen. Mildred will be also be dearly missed by the children and grandchildren of Marlene Sweet, by her former daughter-in-law Donna Sweet, Paul's brother David, his wife Wendy and their daughter Catherine.
Mildred was a devoted longtime member of Evangel Community Church with a passion for missions. Although Mildred was a homebody at heart, she traveled extensively in Europe and North America. Mildred could often be found puttering in her garden while chatting with her neighbours. Mildred loved her time spent with close friends and was often content to sit back and enjoy the excitement of her family engaged in competitive games!
Mildred was a fiercely independent lady with a charming sense of humour who modeled her Christian faith with excellence- she finished well.
A Private Family Funeral Service and Interment will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Monday, July 8, 2019. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, July 8, 2019 at McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
In memory of Mildred, donations may be made to Loads of Love.
