Obituary of Fred Albert Hargrave

HARGRAVE: Fred Albert -

A resident of Chatham, and formerly of London and Mt. Brydges, Fred Hargrave  passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, July 15, 2019  at the age of 70. 

Born in Haileybury, Fred was the son of the late Albert and Joan (Munn) Hargrave. Son-in-law to the late Joan Plummer.

Beloved husband and best friend of Carol (nee Plummer). Predeceased by his first wife Gennifer Hargrave.

Chosen father and friend to Nora Denomy (Byron) and Leanne Peters (Joseph). 

Honourary Grandpa to Lily and Ethan Denomy and Tim and Samantha Peters. 

Younger brother to Lynne Uniac (late Frank); uncle to Al Uniac (Dawn) and Debbie Uniac (Jamie); great-uncle to Kyle and Jack. Brother-in-law to Larry Plummer (Linda) and uncle and great-uncle to their family. 

Also missed by many friends and extended family. 

Fred loved to play, watch, talk, read and google sports. He was a lifelong Detroit Tigers, Detroit Redwings and Minnesota Vikings fan. He was an avid golfer, enjoying his membership with the Banana Bread League at Countryview Golf Course (where he won the "Best Dressed Award"). Former member of the Chatham Granite Club and active member of the Sprucedale Shuffleboard League. He was also known as "Commish" to his Sunday Morning Hockey League. He was passionate about butter tarts and Rice Krispies Squares (also known as 'Breakfast Bars'). He loved to travel with his wife Carol, frequenting Florida, Hilton Head, Virginia, New York, Boston, New York and Newfoundland. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, sound advice and one-liners. Fred will be greatly missed. 

A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held at the Links of Kent, 120 Indian Creek Rd. W., Chatham on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Sarnia at a later date.
