So shocked to read of your mom's passing today in The Voice. Alma was a great woman whom I admired greatly. I visited her when she lived near our mutual friend, Joan Doughty, in Perth. Always so friendly and cheerful, Alma will be missed by all who knew her. Blessings to you all during this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear about Alma's death. We met when we were both young teachers in Scarborough, and a shared interest in music drew us together. Although we met in person very few times after. Alma returned to Chatham, we never lost touch. Alma had a gift for friendship and I will miss her newsy letters and emails. She has a very special place in my heart. Her family was very dear to Alma and I know that you will all miss her very much. With love and sympathy, Joanna Robertson

My late wife Angelita and I moved from Toronto to Chatham in 1977 and within a few months we got to know Alma and her family. Many years later I was one of the original members of the Chatham Cultural Chorale and Alma had me singing solo parts over the years. I give her full credit for the fact that I’m still singing solos and duets after all these years. My heartfelt condolences to Alma’s family.

I was so sorry to learn of Ama's passing. She was a wonderful mentor and colleague. Alma added so much to our classrooms as a music consultant. The students lit up whenever we were lucky enough to have her visit. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. May she rest in peace surrounded by a choir of angels who are always in tune.

Deepest condolences to Jennifer, Janice and families. I have great memories of times with your family at church functions as well as gatherings at your house. Your mom was the kindest woman, always making people feel welcome and included. After not seeing her for about 15 years, I saw her at the Kent Bridge Market a few years back and after recognizing each other she gave me a giant hug! It was a sweet moment that I often think about. Treasure all the great memories you have with your mom. My dad sends his sympathy to you all as well (Doug Dolsen).

While I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Alma, I can see what an amazing woman she must have been in the legacy she has left in the lives of Janice, Grace and Adrienne. Her impact on the life of my friend has been a testament to her commitment to her family, her generosity and her resilience. I can see her spirit living on in the women who will follow in her footsteps and I’m grateful for examples left by women like Alma who had such a positive impact on her family and community. Janice, Jennifer and family. John and I were so sorry to read of your Mom’s passing. We met you and your mother when we moved to Chatham in 1978. We were welcomed into the St. Andrew’s family and I was so fortunate to sing in the alto section with your Mom. She was a beautiful soul, on the inside and out. She was blessed with an incredible voice and used it to sing praises to God. It was wonderful to reconnect with her when she moved back to Chatham a few years ago. We are sorry not to be with you as you celebrate her life. Her light and love will forever be in your hearts. In sympathy, John and Margaret Keech

Alma's leadership whether as a consultant, teacher, mentor, colleague, performer, conductor will be a part of our community's fabric for decades to come. She used her gift of music to change and affect many lives. I believe the angels are singing a little louder today. Well done good and faithful servant.

Janice, we're so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She truly was one of the nicest people I have ever met! I remember when we went with your girls and Alma to the arena in Dresden a couple years ago. We had such a lovely time together there chatting while the girls were skating. She loved the Lord and now she is so happy with Him in her heavenly home. May God comfort you and your girls at this difficult time.

Jennifer and Janice, Mary Jane and I were sorry to hear of your mother's passing. MJ and I were fortunate enough to be taught music at St Joseph's by Alma. MJ also babysat when the Fysh family lived across the street. Whenever we would run into Alma we were always greeted with a smile and an enquiries of how our family's were doing. She was a sweet woman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Carter family.

Dear Family & Friends, It is with much fondness we remember our treasured friend Alma. We could always count on being greeted by her radiant smile, a huge heartfelt hug and a twinkle from those big brown eyes whenever we would meet and after her return to Chatham, during our many FaceTime's. Without question, she has left indelible imprint in the lives of those she has touched. What a wonderful world this would be…if everyone’s life could be touched by someone so kind and caring. We are blessed beyond measure! Her words of wisdom and friendship will be greatly missed. We will forever cherish the many memorable moments we have shared, such as those seen in the pictures providing a glimpse of our little Bible Study Group’s Fond Farewell and Surprise 80th Birthday Celebration at our home. It was made extra special with her dear friend Ruth Ann, traveling from Chatham to join us, as we honoured Alma on a beautiful Fall evening. Alma leaves a legacy of what it means to the show the beauty of generosity, the strength found in servanthood and the lightness in lifting one’s burdens into Christ’s hands. May her example of grace, love and kindness live on in her daughters and grandchildren. Josh, Israel, Grace and Adrienne, without a doubt…you were the apple of your Grandma’s eye. As our gracious Lord walks alongside each of you at this time, may He tenderly comfort you with His care and compassion. He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge. Psalm 91:4 With our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers, Roger and donna

I had the privilege of being a neighbor to Alma & Joe on Cross St. I babysat the the two girls when they came along. I again had the good fortune to connect with Alma when she moved back to Chatham as well as meeting Jennifer and her children. A couple weeks ago I was able to get a wonderful hug and a short chat with Alma. This made my heart so very happy. Such a beautiful person. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Please accept our deepest sympathies. Our prayers are with you during this time. Mrs. Carter was my music teacher as a child. She was always a ray of sunshine on the days she came to our school. Many, many years later she walked into the bank I worked in and immediately I said Mrs Carter!! She remembered me from 40+ years ago. I immediately asked about her pitch pipe haha she told me she no longer had it. I told her that every time i see one, I am reminded of her. I have such fond memories of her and send my very deepest condolences to her entire family. Know how deeply loved she was and the impact she had on so many kids. Sending prayers to all of you during this deeply sad time.
