What a beautiful tribute to Miss Nina today! The very best as it was so personable and passionate, just like Miss Nina! I first met Miss Nina as I was picking up my daughter after school at Winston Churchill and she was picking up children after school. I was immediately impressed with her energy and way with the children. My children and I were new to the neighbourhood and I was looking for an afternoon caregiver for my son and an after school caregiver for my daughter. One day after school I asked her if she was available to watch additional children. She said she would check with the families she was already working for and would let me know. Very soon she got back to me with a yes, and with the kindness of the Darby, Marentette and Bishop families, who opened their homes, my children had a wonderful caregiver and our family a dear friend for many years. Paul and I never worried about Grace and Scott when they were in Miss Nina’s care and we will always be grateful for the care she gave them as children and as a friend to us and Grace and Scott in their now young adult years. You will forever be fondly remembered and carried in our hearts Miss Nina!

The entire Marentette family, Lynn, Leo, Jaclyn and Ben have wonderful memories of Miss Nina’s time as caregiver to Jaclyn and Ben. Miss Nina was a trained Early Childcare Educator but the key word here was Educator. Lynn and I would receive a written report on the activities and accomplishments of our children every day. She also cared for other children from the Bishop and Charbonneau families. We were always confident that all the children in Miss Nina’s care were receiving the best of care. We stayed in touch with Miss Nina over the years. She would always called us on our anniversary which also happened to be her birthday. We will remember her fondly in our hearts. Condolences to Lisa and the rest of Miss Nina’s family.

Miss Nina was working in the infant room at Children’s Village when our children were there. My daughter was in the infant room with Nina and Miss Lou. I never once had any misgivings about leaving her with them. Miss Nina could sure put on a Christmas Pageant with a bunch of 1-2 yr olds! What a great show! RIP Nina

I met Nina in 1988 when she enrolled in the first year of the ECE program at St Clair College’s Thames Campus. What a huge personality! She worked hard to be an outstanding Early Childhood Educator, I was proud to have known her. My deepest condolences to Nina’s family and loved ones.

What to say about Miss Nina? We first met at Kid's Stuff at Winston Churchill. I was working as the day custodian at Winston Churchill, and Nina had been hired as an ECE at Kid's Stuff. From the moment I met her, I realized that she had a spark that could light up her surroundings. She was very passionate and caring about the work she did whether it was as an ECE or later as a custodian for the LKDSB. Nina and I clicked for a number of reasons. We shared a love of music, and since we were about the same age, a lot of the music was early seventies rock and pop which we both loved. She also enjoyed telling me about her favourite movies,,, two of her very favourites were "Lady Sings the Blues" with Diana Ross, and "A Star is Born", particularly the version with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson! Nina was a very open person and we shared a lot of life stories with each other which I'm grateful for. You will be missed Miss Nina

We are so very sorry to everyone that loved and appreciated Miss Nina for the wonderful way she cared for people. Miss Nina took care of our daughter Haley when she was just a toddler. Haley and I went to see her a few weeks ago and had some great laughs and memories of her trying to get Haley to eat the foods she didn’t like. It was funny when Miss Nina remembered Shepard’s Pie was Haley’s favourite - and to this date, it is still one of her favourites. Only Miss Nina’s, not moms at the time”. Miss Nina always had a gift when it came to children. She was stern, but fair and taught them good qualities and to be well mannered kids. I thank her for teaching my daughter to be a wonderful person. To Miss Nina’s family, our deepest condolences; she will be sadly missed. The Brooks Family

My condolences to Miss. Nina's family and friends. I was one of many kids she looked after over the years and I'll never forget how she always made me feel seen and heard. Life might not always be going the best, but there wasn't any problem big or small that you couldn't talk to Miss. Nina about. She'd always help you find a way through. We had so much fun going on adventures with her, going swimming, playing Crazy Eights, and so much more. She took excellent care of us any time we weren't feeling the best and always celebrated special milestones with us like birthdays. Her kindness, generosity and positivity won't ever be forgotten.
