A resident of Blenheim, Fred Heslinga passed away at the Windsor Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus on September 26, 2023 at the age of 77.
Born in Arum, Netherlands, Fred was the son of the late Andrew and Tena Heslinga.
Beloved husband to the late Ella (née Hunse) (2018).
Dear father to Janine Woudstra, Joel Heslinga and Angela Lajoie (Steeve). Proud Papa/Grandpa to Sarah, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sophie, Jonah, Logan and Emma. Loving Great Papa to Tyler and Kingsley.
Brother to Donald Heslinga (Gail), Jack Heslinga; predeceased by his sister Jo-Ann Burrows (John) (2001).
Brother-in-law to Alie Kuipers, Biny Vanegmond (Reel), John Hunse (Ellen), Henrietta Hunse-Jacobs (Jim). Predeceased by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; Tom Hunse (late Jo), Alberta Vos (late Dick), Lambert Hunse (late Grace) and Ted Kuipers.
Fred will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and many dear friends.
Fred was a "Retired" Pastor with Grace CRC. He served communities across Canada. His passion to serve the Lord will long be remember by those that knew him on any level.
Family and Friends will be received at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Ave. W. Chatham on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will have taken place at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham earlier in the morning.
Donations made in memory of Fred to the World Renew or the Chatham Christian Schools would be appreciated by the family.
