Evans: Ethel May (née Gownlock) -

A resident of Ridgetown, Ethel Evans passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the age of 77.

Born in Chatham, Ethel was the daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (née Johnson) Gownlock.

Dearly missed by her beloved husband of 42 years, George Evans.

Loving and cherished mother to Robin Lansue, Brenda Lariviere, Annette Bellaire and Chris Evans (Heather).

Proud Grandma to Shannon Regier (Brad), Jaelyn Seabrook (Cole), Gillian Watts (Alex), Ally Gifford (Donovan), Jessica Bellehumeur (Sylvain), Sydney Olesko (Max), Kylie Evans and Riley Evans.

Much loved Nana to Ayla, Emmett, Grayson, Harper, Elias, Winifred, Anne, George, Xavier and Olivia.

Dear sister to the late Wendy, Vicky (Joe), Joanne (Rob), Penny (Rick), the late Robin, the late Chuck, Richard (Joanne), Tony (Sherry), Robert and Doug (Lisa).

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family, especially Cindy and Al DeLaet.

Ethel will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and her Lord.

Family will receive friends at Emmanuel Congregation Church, 68 Erie Street North, Ridgetown on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 11:00am until the Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at Morpeth Cemetery at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Ethel to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or the Gathering Place Community Church would be appreciated by the family.

Special thanks to Emmanuel Congregational Church for hosting the funeral while the Gathering Place undergoes renovations and to the staff and volunteers at the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their care and compassion.
