After a valiant battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Bryon Dorner III who entered into his eternal rest at the age of 49.
Affectionately known as Chas; he was the beloved son of Charles and Brenda Dorner, and Terry and Elaine Wells. Chas was the brother of Nanette (David) Worsley, Steve Bondy, Brandi (Paul) Wells, Paul (Carla) Wells, and Tim Wells. He was a proud father to Austin Dorner and he will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Maisie Winn. Chas is predeceased by his brother, Waylon Dorner (2012).
Chas was a larger-than-life figure, magnetic and entertaining, and had a passion for life that touched everyone who knew him. He was a talented musician and songwriter, spending countless late nights around many kitchen tables playing his guitar and jamming with friends and family to the tunes of the great country legends of the past. His music, inspired by everyday life, will continue to resonate in our hearts forever.
Chas had a heart full of love and believed deeply in a higher power. His devotion to his sobriety was unwavering, and he found great strength and peace in the Serenity Prayer. He was deeply grateful for the fellowship that supported him on his journey. An honourary mention is given to William Rose, whose mentorship was invaluable to Chas during this time.
Throughout his life, Chas faced challenges with courage and always expressed his spirituality, often saying, “It’s in God’s hands." His path led him to finding solace in the words of one of his favourite poets Robert Frost, whose poem beautifully captures his spirit: “And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk toward heaven.”
Chas leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and a deep faith in the power of grace. He will forever be in our hearts, resting easy until we meet again.
Rest in peace, Chas. You were loved beyond measure.
