Obituary of Norman McKay Huff

HUFF: Norman McKay -

A resident of Chatham-Kent, Norm Huff  passed away at the London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital with family at his side on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the age of 90. 

Born in Chatham, Norm was the son of the late W. Carl and Isabelle (née Ford) Huff. 

Beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen Huff (née Goodall) (2008) and to Diane Paul (née Burniston).

Loving Dad to Carolyn Howes (Rick), Vaughn Huff (Lori), Murray Huff (late Michelle Mailloux, 2009), Kathy Huff, Ken Huff (Nicole) and Barb McAllister (Tim). Honourary Dad to Craig Miller.

Step-Dad to Dr. Shannon Paul and Kevin Paul (Cheryl).

Proud Bumpa to Thomas Howes, Jason Howes (Sarah), Rowyn Huff (Amy), Zach Huff, Chloe McAllister and Olivia McAllister. Also Bumpa to Lyndsey Noordam, Darrian Dobartz, Mariya Abouhaka-Paul, Emily Paul and Kenzley Paul.

Great-Bumpa to Ethan, Hayden, Lilah, Marilyn and Alexandria.

Predeceased by his brother C. Douglas Huff (2008) (late Marilla 'Millie', 2005).

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. 

Norm farmed all of his life, retiring at the age of 60. He also enjoyed his time working as a part time realtor in the area. He served on the Canadian Broiler Hatching Egg Product Association  (Federal and Provincial) for many years and was a founding member of the Federal Egg Marketing Board. 

Norm was an active member of Emmanuel Congregational Church and held various positions within the church. 

In his free time, Norm enjoyed golfing, travelling, watching the ships and observing nature. Norm had an intimate knowledge of all of the area fudge shops, bakeries and ice cream parlours. Most of all, Norm enjoyed spending time with his family. Norm will be remembered for his humour, his love of pie and his generosity. 

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Congregational Church, 68 Erie Street North, Ridgetown at 1:30pm on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Cremation to follow with a private family interment at Mayhew Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville at a later date. 

Due to severe allergies, the family requests that no perfumes be worn. 

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Norm to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
