Obituary of Gerald Galbraith

Galbraith: Gerald Ray -

A resident of Ridgetown, and formerly R.R. # 4 Thamesville, Gerald Galbraith passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at his side on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the age of 84.

Born in Chatham, Gerald was the son of the late H. Ray and Ina Mae (née McMillan) Galbraith.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Carol (née Newcombe).

Cherished father of Brad Galbraith (Sue) and Darren Galbraith (Angela).

Proud Grandpa of Jolene Galbraith, Erika Galbraith, Lachlan Galbraith and Grace Galbraith.

Brother-in-law to the late Ruth Campbell (late Duncan) and the late Doug Newcombe (Nancy).

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Gerald graduated from the Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology in 1959. He farmed with his Dad until he passed away in 1970. He continued to farm until his retirement in 2009.

Gerald loved boating, fishing, car racing, visiting with the neighbours and spending time on the St. Clair River.

As per Gerald's wishes, cremation will take place with a private family interment at Botany Cemetery at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Gerald to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
