Dykema: Mary Ann (née Verkaik) -

A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Sarnia, Mary Ann Dykema passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at her side on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 82.

Born in The Netherlands, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Mike and Gertrude (née Snel) Verkaik.

Beloved wife of 55 years to the late Wayne Dykema (2019).

Loving mother of Grace Pottier (Rick), Wayne Dykema (Joyce) and Gerald Dykema (Shannon).

Cherished Oma of Matthew, Robert (Bobbie-Jo), Christopher (Victoria), Daniel, Justin, Mackenzie (Colten), Jacklyn, Katelyn (Justin), Sara (Matt) and Melissa (Tom).

Treasured Great-Oma of Lucas, Aria, Alexis, Bentley, Axel, the late Toby (2020), Olivia, Oakley and Scarlett.

Dear sister to John Verkaik (Barbara), Pauline Glassford (late George), the late Harry Verkaik (Theresa), the late Mike Verkaik (Sandra), the late Henry Verkaik (Tena) and the late Gary Verkaik.

Sister-in-law to George Dykema (Jenny), Nick Dykema (Maryanne), Gerda Heyink (late Gary), the late Hank Dykema (Frances).

Mary Ann retired from Windmill Cabinets after many years of service and moved with Wayne to Point Edward. They were active at their church and volunteering at the local soup kitchen there. In their retirement, Mary Ann and Wayne were able to travel across the country in their 5th wheel.

Oma was known to crochet many blankets for family, friends as well as hats and gloves for those in need.

Mary Ann had a generous spirit and loved to be around people, especially her family.

As per Mary Ann's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 7:00 - 9:00pm and on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at First Christian Reformed Church, 25 Tweedsmuir Ave East, Chatham from 10:00am until the Celebration of her Life at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.

Donations made in memory of Mary Ann to V.O.N. Chatham-Kent or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
