Obituary of Ray Fenton

Ray Fenton passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at home in Rondeau Bay Estates on Monday, April 21, 2025.

Born 81 years ago to his late parents Allan and Margaret (Dickson) Fenton, Ray and his loving wife Bonnie (Parney) celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past October.

Together, on the same farm where Ray grew up, they raised their cherished son Shawn (Marianne), and were blessed with grandchildren Lydia (Chase) Konecny and Anderson Fenton (Brianne Evans). Ray and Bonnie held dearly the loss of their infant daughter (1977).

Ray is survived by his sister Shirley Fenton (Dr. Murray Moo-Young) of Waterloo, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Will (Linda) Parney, and Cathy (Dave) Cowell of Ridgetown. Predeceased by brother Ronnie Fenton (1956) and sister Sharon Collins (2012).

Ray leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbours who will miss him dearly.

Ray lived and worked most of his life on the Fenton Farm outside Highgate and was proud to see the egg and cash crop operation continuing for the next generations of his family. He was keenly active in his community through the Highgate United Church, Erie Street United Church, Howard Mutual Insurance Board, Gosnell Cemetery Board, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners. His talent and passion for sports found him playing, coaching, or supporting several fastball, baseball, and hockey teams over the years.

The family invite relatives and friends for visiting at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm & 5:00 - 7:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at the Mary Webb Centre, 87 Main Street West, Highgate on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Visiting from 12:00 pm until Service Time. Rev. Lynne Wilson officiant.

Interment in Gosnell Cemetery, Highgate.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Ray with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Erie Street United Church, the Shriner's Hospital for Children or Gosnell Cemetery (cash or cheque through the Funeral Home).
