Obituary of Clifford Wayne Van Every
Gabby, a resident of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side April 29, 2025 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. He is now resting peacefully with Joanne.
Born in Chatham March 23, 1957 to his late parents, Alfred and Grace (Helmer) Van Every. Greatly missed by his good friend, Linda Hearn.
Dear brother to Helen Lehmann (Fred), Shirley Faubert (late Pat), Rosie Garton (Ken), Linda Humphrey (Murray), Sandra Dotterman (Mike), Dorothy Haines (Bill), Reg Van Every (Nancy), Jim Van Every (Linda), Tom Van Every (Robbi-Jo), Larry Van Every.
Gabby is predeceased by brothers Ben, Bill and John Van Every and sister Donna-Jean Van Every. Also surviving are sister-in-law Doreen Van Every and Brenda Van Every.
He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Forever missing him are his two furry companions Marley and Rocky.
Gabby was employed with Southwest AG Partners, Ridgetown, for several years until health issues forced his retirement. In addition, he was a helping hand for the local farming community and will be missed. He liked going to horse races, playing cards, darts, camping and barbequing. Gardening, growing vegetables and maintaining a well cared for lawn were some of his joys in life. Feeding and watching birds was a pastime for both Gabby and Linda. It would be remiss not to mention his admiration for Johnny Cash. He was always willing to do karaoke singing his favourite songs. A collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia was his pride.
He will be missed dearly by nephew Brian and his wife Patsy Van Every. He would often drop in for a visit and update Brian on the local news, to borrow a tool or perhaps even have a beer if he had ‘time’.
As per Gabby’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at The Royal Canadian, Branch 243, 75 Main Street East, Ridgetown. Arrangements entrusted to McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown. He will be laid to rest in the Duart Cemetery.
The family would like to convey their appreciation for the expert and professional care provided by the doctors and nurses of ICU of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. They went above and beyond caring for Gabby and always kept the family apprised of his progression.
Donations to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family if you wish.
