Kam-Ng Chan

Obituary of Kam-Ng Chan

A resident of Chatham, Kam-Ng Chan peacefully passed away with family at his side at Chatham-Kent Hospice on June 11, 2025 at the age of 90.

Born in Canton China, Kam-Ng was the son of Jeurng Lok and Kook (née Cheung) Chan. Beloved husband of 56 years to Betty Chor Bik (née Wong).

Loving father to Patricia Bow (Stephen) and Everett Chan (Rebecca)

Adoring grandfather to Andrew, Jamie Bow and Wesley, Daniel Chan.

Kam came from humble beginnings escaping both the Japanese and Communists to Hong Kong. He studied to become a Structural Civil engineer after catching up 6 years of lost education, excelling in mathematics. In 1966 he immigrated to Halifax and married his eternal love, Betty. Kam made a life change and became a restaurateur and opened up The Golden Crown Restaurant in Chatham, ON. He was a devoted husband, loving father/grandfather, and sponsored many family members over to Canada. His strength, integrity, wisdom and generous heart will be missed. The void left with his passing will remain and be endured.

Kam enjoyed cooking for loved ones, daily coffee visits with friends and gardening (known for the biggest winter melons and abundant bitter melons and chayotes).

Family to receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial to be held at a later date.
