Obituary of Bob Helmer
Helmer: Robert 'Bob' William -
A third generation resident of Duart, Bob Helmer passed away peacefully with family at his side at Riverview Gardens on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the age of 78.
Born in Chatham, Bob was the son of the late Tom and Norma (née Hall) Helmer.
Beloved husband of 58 years to Maxine Helmer (née Humphrey).
Loving father of Steve Helmer (Carrie) and Kim Galbraith (Kevin).
Proud Grandpa to Austin Galbraith (Chelsea), Sarah Adams, Stacie Galbraith and Katie Helmer.
Great-Grandpa to Reid Galbraith.
Dear brother of Keith, Murray, Dennis, Cheryl (Alex) Ronyson and Kevin (Barb). Predeceased by his brother Terry and infant sister Carolyne.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Bob was a dedicated employee at KSR for over 30 years. He enjoyed a lifelong hobby of collecting and restoring antique gas engines and tractors. He was well known in the collector's community, attending several shows across Canada and the USA. Bob was known as "Mr. Fix-it" in Duart and area and was always found in his shop working on a project.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 7:00 - 9:00pm and on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 12:00pm until the Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Duart Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Bob to the Duart Community Hall or Duart Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
