Obituary of Ed Zimmer

Zimmer: Edward Glenn -

A resident of Wallaceburg, Ed Zimmer passed away at home on August 3, 2025 at the age of 59. 

Born in Chatham, Ed was the son of the late Glenn and Lois (née Alway) Zimmer. 

Beloved husband of 36 years to Annette (née Cartier).

Cherished father to Mike (Amanda) Bossy, Nick (Manon "No-name") Zimmer, and Kristin (Jonathan) Goulard.

"Papa Tootoo" to Kaylee and Liam. "Papa" to Emma, Iris, and Nora. Pepere to Baby Zimmer.

Ed was the youngest in his family. He will be missed by his two sisters Therese and Patricia "Patsy".

He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Ed loved farming. Him and Annette bought their farm in 1998 in Dover Township not long after they were married. They continued on to raise their three kids there. He enjoyed his work truck driving on the open road. Solitude was one of his strengths, however he was never disconnected from his family. Talking to them on the phone for hours about anything and everything.

Ed spent many days with a beer in his hand, building and renovating their house, cutting the grass, and working outside. 

He always spoke the truth whether you liked or not, always saying things how they were. He didn't put up with any bs, and everyone around him knew that.

His family was his pride and joy. He was fiercely protective of them, and always loved spending time with them. He made the most of every minute to spend together.

Family to receive friends at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday August 12, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow.

Donations made in memory of Ed to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation or to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
