Segeren: Leonardus John -
A resident of Chatham, Leo Segeren passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on August 10, 2025 at the age of 91.
Born in Holland, Leo was the son of the late Bert and Anna (née Vandongen) Segeren.
Beloved husband of 69 years to Pauline (née Normandin).
Loving father to Cheryl (Ted) Jarecsni, Gary (Mary Joe) Segeren and Leanne (John-Paul) Swayze.
Opa to Krysta, Lauren, Shawn, Joshua, Mitchell, Meagan and Jalene.
Great Opa to Evelyn, Vera, Leo, Lucille, Remi and Bryson.
Dear brother to the late John Segeren (late Alice and Jack Scoyne), the late Toni Ouellette (Camiel DeBusschere 1982, and Leo) and the late Joseph Segeren (Deanna), Bert Segeren (Annie), the late Pete Segeren (Eunice), the late Willy Segeren (Carol) and the late Bob Segeren (Sue).
Brother-in-law to the late Edna (late Jules) Laevens, the late Maurice (late Simone) Normandin, the late Roland (Joan) and the late Paul (late Joyce) Normandin.
Leo was a proud and successful farmer, he was hardworking and very proud of his family. Leo was dedicated to his faith and taught his children and grandchildren the values and morals of family, hardwork and helping those in need. He let the spirit of his faith guide him through life.
Also missed and loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Family to receive friends at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday August 13, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham on Thursday August 14, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Leo to Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, VON Chatham-Kent or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish would be appreciated by the family.
