Obituary of Rick Rewitz

Rewitz: Rick-

A resident of Chatham, Rick Rewitz passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on September 4, 2025 at the age of 67.

Born in Chatham, Rick was the son of the late Clara (née Crawford) and Harry Rewitz. Survived by sister, Gail (Ray) Poissant; predeceased by his sister, Janet and brother, Ron.

Will be forever remembered by his two nieces, Christine (Mark) Taylor, Jennifer Smith, and Nephew, Jeff (Jessica) Coles. Great uncle to Ash (Alexis) Taylor, Meghan (Myles) Smith, Rachel (Brock) Smith and Abigail Coles. Great great uncle to Aquinnah and Eloise Taylor.

Forever missed by his chosen family Linda and Terry Rose, Rob and Kit Britton and their families. Always loved and remembered by extended family and friends.

Rick found joy in the simple pleasures of life - fishing and picnics at Mitchell’s Bay, camping at Rondeau, riding motorcycles in his younger years, and taking peaceful nature walks, especially around Erieau. A lifelong fan of 70's rock music, his days were often set to the rhythm of the classics he loved. Rick also had a gentle bond with animals and was always happy to care for the pets of family and friends, treating them with the same kindness and devotion he showed to everyone in his life. His caring nature and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation for Rick will take place on Monday September 8th, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home in Blenheim, 141 Park Street. Donations made in honour of Rick to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
