Turkington, John "Jack"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John “Jack” Turkington of Chatham, Ontario, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 72.

Jack was born in Chatham, Ontario, to his loving parents William and Mary Turkington (nee Daley), who predeceased him. He had a career with the LCBO spanning more that 35 years, was an elected Trustee on the St. Clair Catholic School Board , a member of Knights of Columbus and served on the Board of Directors for Columbus Estates, as well as giving time to numerous other charities.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Joyce Turkington (nee O’Rourke), and their children Jarrod Turkington (Stephanie), Justin Turkington, and Jennifer Lynch (Brad). He was a proud and adoring Papa to Logan, Larkin and Lincoln Lynch, Grayson and Ashton Turkington, who were truly the light of his life.

He is survived by his sister Patricia Easton (late Dave), his sister-in-law Nancy Ramboer (Wayne), and his brother-in-law Frank O’Rourke (Judy). He was predeceased by his sister Mary Ann Salisbury, his brother-in-law Robert O'Rourke (late Rosemary), and his sister-in-law Margaret Drury. Jack will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Jack found great joy in boating and spending time at the family cottage in Erieau, where he created countless cherished memories with family and friends. He also enjoyed taking drives in his Mustang convertible and travelling with Joyce.

Jack will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of  humour, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends will be received at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.  A private family service to be held.

Jack faced his illness with unwavering strength and a positive attitude that inspired everyone around him.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jack's memory to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre (London Health Sciences Centre Foundation).
