Obituary of Raffaella Quaggiotto

Aged 97, passed away peacefully on Friday January 2, surrounded by her loved ones.  

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she lived a long and fulfilling life marked by kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.  

Born on September 22, 1928 in Poggiana, Italy, Raffaella grew up with six siblings, a strong sense of dedication and compassion that shaped every chapter of her life.  She immigrated to Canada with the love of her life, Vittorio.  Raffaella dedicated herself to her family, raising her five children with patience and devotion, and later becoming a beloved grandmother whose home was always open for laughter, stories, and delicious Italian food including “nonna’s soup”.  She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, gardening, sewing, cooking for loved ones, and games of Bocce Ball or cards with friends.

Raffaella is survived by her 5 children, Maria (John Mann), Florence (Marty Labonte), Lydia (Dean Chudleigh), Steven, and Andy (Kelly).  She was a cherished grandmother of 9, and great grandmother of 13.  She is survived by three of her siblings; Erminia, Imelda, and Vittoria and is predeceased by three of her dear siblings; Giovanni, Luigi and Ines.

Her warmth, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.  

Special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at the Blenheim Community Village LTC, who looked after Raffaella for the last 2 years, and provided exceptional comfort care through to her final hour of life.

A celebration of Raffaella’s life will be held at the

Heavenly Rest Catholic Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel, 5005 Howard Ave., LaSalle, On.,

on Saturday April 18th, 2026. Visitation 11:00 a.m. Service 12:00 p.m. (entombment to follow service).
