Paul Houston

Obituary of Paul Houston

Houston: Paul Douglas -

A resident of Chatham, Paul Houston passed away at home on January 4, 2026 at the age of 67.

Born in Chatham, Paul was the son of the late Charles and Helen (née Wells) Houston.

Loving father to Brandon Houston, Shane Houston (Nikki), Nicole Ostropolec (Mike), and Danielle Wells (Jordan).

Cherished grandfather to Sarah (Alex), Theodore, Ivy, Stella, Evie, Rosie, Flora, Heidi, and Selah.

Great-grandfather to be to Baby Heuston.

Brother to Tom Houston (Nancy) and the late Garry Houston.

Missed by his furry companion, Bella.

He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Paul was a devoted volunteer firefighter with Chatham-Kent Fire Station 18 in Blenheim, where he proudly dedicated many years of service to the Chatham-Kent community.
Paul had a lifelong passion for golf and, in his younger years, earned many awards- accomplishments he was always proud of. A true jack of all trades, he had a remarkable talent for carpentry and handyman work and could fix or build just about anything.

He was also an excellent cook, well known among family for making the best roast you’d ever have. Paul loved bringing people together around a good meal, a barbecue and spending time with his kids and grand kids.

Above all else, Paul loved his children and grandchildren deeply. He was incredibly proud of each of them and all they accomplished.

Paul spent many years working in sales and was also a successful business owner of a restoration of leather and vinyl company.

In his quieter moments, Paul found peace on the water, enjoying time on his boat and casting a line when he could. In recent years, he especially enjoyed camping, spending weekends barbecuing, and relaxing while watching golf or hockey - simple pleasures that meant a lot to him.

Paul will be remembered for the deep love he held for his family and the quiet pride he took in their lives and accomplishments. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

As per Paul's wishes, cremation has taken place. An interment will be held at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Paul to the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction or to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family.
