Obituary of Mervin Michener

Michener, Mervin Bruce

A longtime resident of Ridgetown, Mervin Michener passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge at the age of 91.

Born in Sarnia, Mervin was the son of Charles and Mable (née Underwood) Michener.

Beloved husband of 70 years to Eva Marenah (née Hartford).

Forever remembered by his children: his daughter Connie and Erwin Wood, and his son Mark and Debbie Michener of Ottawa.

Proud Grandpa to Nathan and Natalie, Bruce and Timothy, and Great-Grandfather to Gavin, Silas, Ezekiel, Maverick, Johanna, Josie, Sydney, and Rorik.

Survived by his sisters Leta Poisson, Phyllis MacDonald, and Lillian Hartford, and by his brother David Michener. Predeceased by his sister Joyce.

Mervin was a world traveler and intelligence officer with the RCAF. During his lifetime of service to his country, he lived with his wife Marenah and their children in the USSR, France, Ottawa, Germany, and Washington, DC. Always the professional, he was a sought-after speaker and rose to the highest ranks within the Masonic and Shriner organizations. He deeply valued his friendships through the Legion and remained in close contact with his military compatriots. In his later years, he returned to his home in Ridgetown to be close to family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with dates to be announced.
