Obituary of Margaret Herfst
Margaret (Nee Bax) Herfst, July 28, 1933 - January 21, 2026
Passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the age of 92.
Margaret was the daughter of the late Jack and Adriana (Nee Verhoog) Bax.
Beloved wife of the late Albert Herfst and mother of the late Paul Herfst.
Loving mother of Robert (Denise).
Proud Oma of Courtney (RD), Jessica, Ashley, Levi (Jalita), Lydia, Sydney, and Aubrey and Great-Granddaughter Liara.
She will be sadly missed by her siblings Gertie (Wielhouwer), her best friend and sister Jean (VanHelden) (Peter), Clarence, Bernie (Tina), Herb (Janet), Hank, and Frits (Jan).
Predeceased by her identical twin sister Mary (Hummelen), sister Joanne, and brothers Jim, and Art.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 2:00 - 5:00pm. A Funeral Service to be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 25 Tweedsmuir Ave East, Chatham on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11:00 am, with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of Margaret to the Chatham-Kent Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
