Obituary of Geraldine Deneau
Deneau: Geraldine Edith (née Garrod) -
It is with heavy hearts we share that our mom Geraldine Edith Deneau (Garrod) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19th at the age of 95.
She will be remembered as petite but strong, stoic and kind.
A business school graduate who became a stenographer. She volunteered with special needs children and had a passion for tutoring students of all ages while working at CKSS.
An avid reader and gardener who loved all animals. She enjoyed weekly visits with her many sisters-in-law where they would crochet and share stories. Her daily routine would start with tea and toast and always included a long conversation on the phone with her sister “Jackie.”
Married in 1951 to her love the late Alex Deneau. They laughed, danced, raised a family, traveled and built a life together.
Her laugh and caring ways will be missed by her children: Bradley Deneau (deceased), Janet (Ric-deceased) Pollock, Randy (Jessie) Deneau, Greg (Anita) Deneau, Mark (Janine) Deneau, and the late infant son Matthew Deneau.
Grandmother of Brad (Julie) Deneau, Jonathan Pollock (Natalia Flores), Matthew Deneau; Nicole Caldwell, Robert Deneau, Charles Pollock, Joshua (Rhonda) Deneau; and Gregg Deneau. She is a great-grandmother many times over.
She is predeceased by her parents Roy and Margaret Garrod, sister Jacqueline (Walter) Walker; and brothers Gerald (Marion) Garrod and Lloyd (Patrica) Garrod.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens for their exceptional care and compassion for our mom, whom they affectionately called “Gerri.”
Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Friday April 24th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Cremation and a burial service will follow at a later date.
Donations in memory of Geraldine would be appreciated for The Pet and Wildlife Rescue or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
She will be missed.
