Obituary of Margaret McIntosh

McIntosh (Mickels), Margaret C.: A resident of Extendicare Southwood Lakes Nursing Home, Windsor and formerly of Ridgetown and Highgate, Margaret C. McIntosh (Mickels) passed away peacefully, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in her 86th year. Born in Mio, Michigan, daughter of Douglas and Violet Cummings, she was predeceased by her husband Cecil Mickels. Margaret was dearly loved by her son Douglas and his wife Susan of Grosse Ile, Michigan and her daughter, the late Diane Armitage of Phoenix, Arizona. She was a sister to Bill and Doris Cummings of Oliver, B.C., George and Sue Cummings of Ingersol and the late Douglass Cummings killed in Sicily and the late Violet Strader of Mimico. Margaret had a special gift in community activities. She was the Past President of LOTO-Northern Division; Past President of Rebecca Lodge, Ridgetown; and involved with the Ridgetown Legion; New to You Store, Highgate Ball Club; Highgate Legion; Presbyterian Church; St. Michael’s School Registration and Highgate United Church. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Family Graveside Service at Duart Cemetery will take place at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham.
