Obituary of Jack Macklin

Macklin, Jack Sr.

A resident of Chatham for over 50 years, Jack Macklin Sr. passed peacefully on September 26, 2024 at Riverview Gardens Long Term Care Home at the age of 80. 

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Jack was the son of the late Hugh & Margaret (nee Riddell) Macklin, 

Forever remembered by his wife of 58 beautiful years, Margaret (nee Mason). 

Loving father of the late Jack Macklin Jr & Leslie Esch-Macklin.

Proud grandpa of Andrew & Adam Macklin.

Survived by his daughter-in-law, Bonnie Macklin & son-in-law, Frank Esch. 

Brother of Agnes Thompson (Drew). Predeceased by brothers, Robert Macklin & Hugh Macklin and sister-in-law Vicky Macklin.

Survived by sister-in-laws, Margaret Macklin and Nancy Jarrar (Ahmed). 

Jack retired from Chrysler Canada as an Inspector. Jack immigrated from Scotland in 1965 with Margaret following close behind in 1966. Married in March of 1966, they raised two beautiful children and started their family. Together, they enjoyed traveling throughout all parts of the world. Jack was an avid Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed listening to all types of music. He loved to keep busy, by creating little trinkets out of wood and spending time drawing and reading. 

Family to receive friends on Saturday November 16, 2024 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 11:00am - 12:00pm followed by a Memorial Service. 

In keeping with Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place and an interment will be held at a later date.

In memory of Jack, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
