Obituary of William McKenzie Ross IV

ROSS: William McKenzie IV A lifelong resident of Chatham, William Ross died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. He was born in Chatham, 87 years ago on December 29, 1926, son of the late William & Hallie (Carey) Ross. Beloved husband of the late Ada (Annable) Ross (2004). Loving father of William & Pamela Ross of Chatham, Marcus & Brenda Ross of London, David Ross of Streetsville, and Matthew & Mary Lou Ross of London. Devoted grandfather of Shane Van Moorsel (Dan), William Ross (Erin), Marcus Ross, McKenzie Ross, Emma Porter (Andrew), Avery Ross, and Madeleine Ross. Cherished great grandfather of Gabriel, Hayden, and Macy Van Moorsel, Ephram, Sydney, and Skylar Ross, Evan and Katherine Porter. Dear brother of Jean Phipps of Corunna, and the late Stuart Carey Ross. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Sophie Ross of Toronto, as well as several nieces and nephews. William proudly served his country as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII. He was the fourth generation owner and operator of Ross Flowers in Chatham, and remained actively dedicated to the family business, and to horticulture in general during his retirement years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a lifetime Elder, past Clerk of Session, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He was always a faithful supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 60 Fifth Street, Chatham from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday May 30, 2014, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
