Western University’s Body Bequeathal Program accepts whole-body donations to support medical and dental education and research at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. There are no age limitations to participate, and every donor is treated with dignity, privacy, and care throughout the process.
No cost to the family for cremation itself or the interment
Privacy protected — only age, sex, and cause of death are shared with students
Choice of private return of remains or interment by the University, with an annual memorial service
How body bequeathal works
Register during your lifetime
Complete a consent form and share copies with your doctor, executor, or next of kin.
We coordinate everything at time of need
We confirm acceptance with Western and handle transportation and paperwork, usually within 48 hours.
Body supports research, then returns home
The body supports medical education for up to three years, after which your family can have the remains returned or interred at the University.
