Obituary of Dorothy Marie Dark

Dorothy Marie Dark (nee.Bloom), a resident of Ridgetown, Ontario, passed away on April 14, 2025 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 95. Born on August 8th, 1929 in Orford Township, Dorothy was the oldest daughter of the late William and Lyda (Sinclair) Bloom. 

Beloved wife of the late Raymond Dark (1997). Together with hard work they built a life and a family on the farm that they loved. She was sadly predeceased by her sons Lyle (1980) and Gary (1987). Loving mother of Brenda and Peter Wright of Kent Bridge. A fondly remembered grandmother of Nick and Mickie Wright of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and Stacey and Cole Van Vaerenbergh of Ridgetown. She was a proud great grandma to Jelena, Kaelen Wright and to Scout Van Vaerenbergh.

Dorothy is survived by her brother John Bloom (Shirley, 2021), of Bothwell and her sister Mary Louise Butler (Lee, 2020) of Chatham. Predeceased by her sister Marjorie Hawthorne (James), in 2020.  She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Turin United Church where she found joy and fellowship in singing in the choir and making pies with the close-knit family of church members. 

Visitation will be held on Friday evening April 18th, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street, Ridgetown. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Saturday April 19th, 2025 at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Cook. The service will begin at 11 am with visitation from 10 am until time of service.
