Catharina Bartha de Leeuw (néeVan Der Burgh)

On August 15, 2025 a resident of Chatham, Catharina de Leeuw went to be with her lord and beloved husband Egbert at the age of 91.

Born in de Hague, the Netherlands, Catharina was the daughter of the late Frederik and Gesina (née Spaan) Van Der Burgh. 

Loving mother to Yolanda (Douglas), Eric (Jacqueline), Carl (Jacqueline), Veronica, Brian (Annette).

Grandma to Calvin (Minahil), Emma (Arrie), Joshua, Noah, Silas, Cassandra, Katie, Daniel, Aaron (Candice), Kara, Erich and Sarah.

Great Grandma to Ava, Sophia, Danyal, Nina and Fenna.

Catharina will be deeply missed by her family in California, the Netherlands and many friends.

Catharina was known for her many aliases (Ineka, Ena and Catherine). She loved her family and the family she created at church. Catharina loved her garden, where you could find her enjoying the flowers. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, bible study and feeding the neighbourhood cats. Being a Grandmother and Great Grandmother was her pride and joy.  

Friends to be received on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Thames Christian Fellowship Church, 400 Park Ave East, Chatham from 10:00 am until a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. 

Donations made in memory of Catharina (Ineka, Ena and Catherine) to Thames Christian Fellowship or the C-K Animal Rescue would be appreciated by the family.
