Obituary of Joan Mummery
Mummery: Margaret Joan (née Birch) -
A resident of Chatham, and previously of Ridgetown, Joan Mummery passed away at Riverview Gardens on October 19, 2025 at the age of 93.
Born in Weston, Joan was the daughter of the late Bill and Isabel (née Crawford) Birch.
Beloved wife of the late Bill Mummery.
Loving mother to Greg (Rose) Hamilton, Nancy Boughner, Grant (Daniel) Hamilton, Pamela (Tatsui) Fujii, and Cindy (Alan) DeLaet.
Grandmother to Tara (Nate) Hutchison, Amanda Hamilton; Rachel and Alexander Fujii; Leonie Burton, Samantha (John) Kerr and Alison (Jeff Houston) DeLaet; and the late Kim Boughner.
Great-grandmother to Kathleen (Chris) Hiebert, Mia, Evan, Viola, and Josephine.
Great-great-grandmother to Micah, Roland and Victoria.
Sister to Jim (Verna) Birch and Terry Birch.
Sister-in-law to Judy Birch.
Predeceased by Betty (Doug) Day, Donna (Wally) Faulkner, Bill (Cathy) Birch, and Peter Birch.
She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Joan could be found gardening and oil painting. She was a member of the Ridgetown Salvation Army, volunteering her time there.
Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 12:00 pm until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow. Interment in Port Dover Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Joan to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
