Obituary of Harry Zuidema

Zuidema: Harry (Hielke) -

A resident of Chatham and formerly of Wallaceburg, Harry Zuidema passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park with family at his side on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the age of 94. 

Born in Sneek, Friesland, The Netherlands, Harry was the son of the late Klaas and Grietje (née Lok) Zuidema. 

Beloved husband of 65 years to Marchien Zuidema (née Koopman).

Loving father to Trudy Luiting (Dick), Rob Zuidema (Cathy), Alan Zuidema (Susan), Ed Zuidema (Marlene), Arlene Rintjema (Rob) and Jennifer Zuidema. 

Proud Grandpa and Opa to 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. 

Dear brother to Nick Zuidema (Dianne), Henry Zuidema (Cathy) and Jean Noordam. Predeceased by his sister Carla van't Voort (2026) (late Harry, 2010).

Dear brother-in-law to Gesina and John Pennings, and Gé Koopman.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. 

Harry retired from the family business, Zuidema Interiors after a fulfilling career working with his family. 

Harry had served as an Elder at Living Hope Free Reformed Church over the years.

Harry will be remembered for his gentle nature, his faith and the love he had for his family. 

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm and at Living Hope Free Reformed Church, 159 Gregory Drive East, Chatham on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
