Obituary of Jean Haggitt

Haggitt: Florence Jean (née Humphries) -

A resident of the Chatham Retirement Resort, Florence "Jean" Haggitt  passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus on October 1, 2024 at the age of 89. 

Born in Glencoe, Jean was the daughter of Stanley and Florence  Humphries. 

Proud and loving mother to Michael and Kerri-Lynn Haggitt, Julie and John Hayward, and predeceased by Lynn Haggitt. 

Forever she will be missed by her grandchildren Christopher, Brittany, John Jr., Justin and her great-grandchildren Evelyn and Adeline. 

Predeceased by her siblings Joyce (Bill) McLean and Bill (Hilda) Humphries.

Jean will be missed by her sister-in-law Carol and Ron Carrothers. 

She will also be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews. Jean was a loyal friend to many and loved by everyone she met.

Jean retired as a school teacher in Lambton County after 35 years. She loved music, especially Elvis and singing in the choir or in the car driving down the country road. 

Jean was an avid Bridge player representing Sarnia-Lambton in 2012 and 2014 in the Canada 55+ Games. She was always up for a friendly game of Cribbage for anyone that was up for the challenge.

Jean loved Las Vegas and enjoyed her trips with friends and family to Casinos near and far. 

Her love for sports started when she was young and continued throughout her lifetime cheering on her children and grandchildren. Jean and her cat Bella enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings together.

As per Jean's wishes cremation will take place and a private family gathering will be in the summer of  2025.  

Donations made in memory of Jean to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
