Acts of Kindness Around Christmas

There is never a good time of year to lose someone. It can be especially difficult around the holidays. Compound that stress with a savage winter storm and you are pushing people to their limit. However, in times of adversity, we do also get to see the many acts of kindness of a small community. Add a little Christmas spirit, and there seems to be no limit to what the community can do.

Thank you to all of the police, fire and EMS workers who worked hard to keep the community safe and to those committed souls driving the snowplows and the road graters. You were instrumental in assisting us to get to peoples’ homes who had suffered a loss when they needed help the most. Thank you to the many farmers throughout the community assisting with their tractors who helped clear for their neighbours and who assisted in digging peoples’ vehicles out.

Special thanks to all the kind souls who took a stranded person or family into their home, and to Scott Lackie and the Municipal staff for opening up the Ridgetown arena to take in those in need. Thanks to the team at the Funeral Home for tirelessly working through yet another Christmas holiday and enduring the storm and many thanks to their families for their support and understanding.
