Obituary of Oswald Sanson

SANSON: A resident of Chatham, Oswald "Ozzie" Sanson died at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday April 27, 2006 at the age of 85. Born in Gin Cove, Munroe, Newfoundland on 25 acres of rock and bush, August 6, 1920, son of the late Catherine (Frye) and James Graham Sanson. Beloved husband of the late Cora (Pye) Sanson (July 23, 2005) Dear father of Sandie & George Gatt, Barry & Donna Sanson, Darlene & Bruce Arnold, Geraldine Sanson & partner Mark Hart, David Sanson & Kim, Dennis Sanson & Kelly Sutherland, James & Nathalie Sanson, Jean & Jeff Perdu, and father-in-law of Zora Sanson. Predeceased by son Wayne Sanson (May 2, 1991) Grandpa and Papa to Fraser & Rebecca Gatt, Brett & Janette Gatt, Nigel, Brianna & Robyn Gatt, Jonathan Sanson & Regan, Matthew Sanson, Jenna & Alyssa Arnold, Gillian Sanson, Milena & Lindsay Sanson, Wesley, Maelyn, Morgan & Hannah Perdu. Great Grandpa "snooker wooker" to Olivia & Noah Gatt and Isaac & Taite Hulet Gatt. Brother of Gerald, Lizzie, and the late Eulalie, Bill & Herb. Brother-in-law of Mona and Gloria. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ozzie grew up in "Newfie", logging and fishing with his brothers. He joined the Navy and served during WWII. He and Cora married in Newfoundland before emigrating to Nova Scotia, and eventually Chatham, where they raised their family. Ozzie was great at fixing bikes and lawnmowers, and was always willing to provide free opinions on any topic. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday 2:00-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Monday May 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Susan Jolley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Myles Miracle Mission or Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund are welcomed.
