Obituary of Jack Smith

SMITH: A resident of Chatham and formerly of Harwich Township, Jack W. Smith passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the age of 81. Born in McKay's Corners, son of the late Lorne and Myrtle (Wylie) Smith. Beloved husband of Doris (Braithwaite) Smith for 46 years. Dear father of Lorne Smith and his wife Clara of Harwich Township, James Smith and his wife Cheryl of Harwich Township, and Karen Liberty and her husband Frank of Dresden. Grandfather of Jessica Smith, Rebecca Smith, Adam Smith, Matthew Liberty, and Christopher Liberty. Brother of Helen Scott of Chatham and her late husband Doug. Brother-in-law of Marion Towsley of Chatham and her late husband Ron, Lloyd and Elaine Braithwaite of Minden, and the late Stan Braithwaite. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Jack was a lifelong farmer in Harwich Township and a member of Zion United Church, Harwich Township. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Thursday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with The Rev. James Brown of Zion United Church officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
