Obituary of Gordon Brisley

BRISLEY: A resident of Chatham, Gordon Mervin Brisley died on August 3, 2006, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, at the age of 89. Born in Northwood, ON to the late Henry & Olive (Best) Brisley. Beloved husband of Katherine (Anderson) Brisley for 60 years. Loving father of Bonnie & Brad Brown of Port Stanley, Bette & Patrick Catton of Amherstburg, and Janice & Richard Leschyshyn of Corunna. Gord is sadly missed by grandchildren Heather & Phil and Kevin & Kerrin Brown, Jessica and Ryan Catton, and Josh and Warren Leschyshyn. He is predeceased by his sister Rita May Barnes (1989), and brothers Jack (1971) and Harvey (1998) Brisley. Gord retired from International Harvester Co. in 1979 after 42 years of service. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. A member of Kent County Golf & Social Club and Branch 28 Legion. Gord was a charter member of Sprucedale United Church as well as a member of the Trustees. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., on Friday, August 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Sprucedale United Church, 493 Victoria Ave, at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 5, 2006 with Rev. Pat Milliken officiating. Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Memorial donations made by cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society or Sprucedale United Church, are appreciated.
