Smyth: Gertrude Aileen a resident of Chatham and formerly R.R. #4, Chatham died Sunday October 29, 2006 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, at the age of 87. Born in Dover Township daughter of the late Arthur James and Flora Esther (Heath) Parrish. Beloved wife of the late Harold John Smyth (1998) Dear mother of Barbara & Dwight Carroll, Kelowna, B.C.; Glen & Janet Smyth, R.R. # 4, Chatham; Mary & Don Haden, R.R. #1, Blenheim and Donna & Peter Beintema, R.R. #4, Chatham. Grandmother of Christopher Smyth and Angie Richmond, Carolyn and Mike Eltervoog, Michael and Katherine Smyth, Marc Beintema and Lesley Hall and Erin Beintema. Sister of Ken & Pat Parrish, Dover Township and the late Dorothy Fernley, Pearl Cooper and Floyd Parrish. Gertrude was a long time involved member with Park Street United Church. She was active since she joined the church in 1938 having contributed of her time and talents to the Church, the U.C.W. and Unit 7. She will be especially remembered for the 1301 purses and 800 tote bags she made for the benefit of her church. She was also a member of the Oak Mount Community Agricultural Club of Harwich. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Tuesday October 31, 2006 from 2:30-4:30 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev Karl and Heida Seivert officiating.
