Ashton - Lawrence Edgar of Ridgetown and formerly of Orford Township, died suddenly at home on Thursday, November 16, 2006. Beloved husband of Lois (Smith) Ashton. Loving father of Phillip Ashton, Kenneth Ashton and his wife Jane, Marie (Campbell) and her husband Ken Alliet, Lois Jean and her husband Joe Diniz, Glen Ashton and his wife Heather, Kathleen Ashton and her husband Tony Makhlouta, Noreen and her husband David Knight, Anna and her husband Stan Siderius. Grandfather of Ben, Michael and his wife Allison, Kai, Ellen, Anya, Valarie, Matthew, Mark, Wren, Blake, Jacob, Lisa, Emma, Rachael and Eric. Dear brother of Shirley Berresford. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Christine Ashton and son-in-law Ed Campbell. Lawrence was a member of the Highgate Masonic Lodge #336 and the Blenheim-Erie Chapter. He was a former Reeve of Orford Township, former Warden of Kent County and active member of Erie St. United Church. The Ashton family will receive family and friends at the Funeral Home,76 Main St. E. Ridgetown on Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 -4:30 and 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Masonic Lodge service at the funeral home on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday November 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Vanderveeken officiating. Interment McLean Cemetery, Clachan.
