ATKINSON: Doris. A resident of Chatham, Doris Atkinson passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday January 2, 2007 in her 99th year. Born in Northumberland, England, daughter of the late Lilly Bell. Beloved wife of the late John Rae Foster (1960) and James Lloyd Atkinson (1991). Loving and “Best Mom” of Dorothy and John Hoy of R.R. # 6 Chatham, Robert and Rose Foster of Dover Township, Margaret and Robert Watson of Chatham, and Jean and Rusty Smith of Cedar Springs. Cherished Grandmother of 14 Grandchildren and 22 Great-Grandchildren. Predeceased by son-in-law William Jenner (1980). Doris was a life long member of St. Andrew’s United Church and a member of the St. Andrew’s Ladies Auxiliary. Doris was a very kind and giving person. She was never judgmental, always forgiving, and a spirit we can all learn from. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:30 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bradley Watson of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lakeshore, and Rev. Michael Brooks of St. Andrew’s United Church officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham Donations made by cheque to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Association, the Canadian Cancer Society, or St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Auxiliary appreciated.
