Obituary of Stewart J. Eldridge

Eldridge: Stewart "Stew" J. A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Essex, died Sunday February 25, 2007 at the age of 86. Born in Maidstone, Essex County son of the late Frederick and Ella (McMurren) Eldridge. Beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth "Tillie"(Morin) Eldridge for 67 ½ years. Dear father of Cheryl & Neil Wellwood, R.R. #2, Merlin; Charlene & Dave Weber, Chatham & formerly Merlin; Janice & Jim Taylor, Charing Cross; David (Larry) & Jan Eldridge, Chatham; Glen & Kathy Eldridge, Chatham; Neil & Jayne Eldridge, Merlin; Kevin & Deb Eldridge, Chatham; Charles & Kim Eldridge, London and late infant children Karen & Brian. Grandfather of 19 grandchildren and their spouses and 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Mr. Eldridge served overseas during WW II, was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 628, Chatham, a former employee of Weston Bakeries for 45 years and a member of the Chatham Kiltie Band. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Legion Memorial Service, sponsored by Branch #628, Royal Canadian Legion will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 from the Funeral Home with Chaplain Donna Green officiating. Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens, Oldcastle. Donations made by cheque to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
