Obituary of Kent Challis

CHALLIS: Kent (Ace). A resident of Chatham, Kent (Ace) Challis passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the age of 83. Born in Goven, Saskatchewan, son of the late Frederick and Mabel (Danbrook) Challis. Beloved husband of Marguerite (MacNally) Challis for 56 years. Dear father of Lucy Hartford of Blenheim, William Challis of Hamilton, and predeceased by son Kent Challis Jr. (1953) and son-in-law Gerald Hartford (1995). Grandfather of Miranda Hartford of Windsor and her fiancé Neil Klempner, and James Hartford of Blenheim. Brother of Harry and Shirley Challis of Sudbury, Phillip and Louise Challis of Chatham, and Charles (Ted) and Josephine Challis of Chatham. Brother-in-law of Clifford Workman of Port Lambton, Ralph MacNally of Chatham, and the late Anne Challis, Margaret MacNally, Thomas MacNally, Alice Workman, and Ilene MacNally. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Kent was employed as an Express Motorman with Canadian National Railway. He was an avid motorcyclist and had belonged to the White Rose Riders, The Rondeau Riders, and was associated with the Erie Ramblers Motorcycle Club of Wheatley. Kent was also a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. John Hodgins of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Donations by cheque to the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance or Holy Trinity Anglican Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
