Obituary of Peter Gilbert

GILBERT: Peter Charles. A resident of Chatham, Peter C. Gilbert passed away at his home on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the age of 68. Born in Chatham, son of the late Shirley and Margaret (Papps) Gilbert. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Labadie) Gilbert (1998). Dear father of Dawn Rice and her husband Don of R.R.#6 Merlin. Brother of Josephine and Bob Leach of Chatham, Janet Gilbert and Mac Holmes of Chatham, and the late Walter Gilbert (2005) and Lenora Hooktwith (2006). Brother-in-law of Barb Gilbert of Chatham, Orrin Hooktwith of Chatham, Mary and Peter Dick of Chatham, Steve English of Blenheim, Deb and Paul Powers of Chatham, and the late Shirley English (2004). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Peter was a loving “Grand Pa” to his canine friends Quincey and Scooter. He retired after 42 years with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, Department of Highways. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Susan Jolley officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Donations by cheque to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or O.S.P.C.A. Chatham-Kent would be appreciated.
