Philips, Jules Desire Charles: A longtime resident of R.R.#6 Chatham, Jules Philips died on Friday, June 29, 2007 at Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham at the age of 94. Born in Ossendrecht,The Netherlands, son of the late Charles and Florence Philips. Beloved husband of Eliza Rosalie (DeBruyn) Philips for more than 68 years. Loving father of Nancy and John Blonde and Betty Ann Philips and Phil Hughes, all of Chatham and predeceased by Robert (Bob) Jules Philips (1996). Grandfather of Shellie and Jay Storey, Todd and Kirsten Philips, Tracie and Mark Paul, Ken and Lisa Blonde, Sandra and Dan Dourocher, Phil and Michelle Blonde, Christine and Barry Ruperet, Kevin Prescott and Kyle Prescott. Great-grandfather of 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by four sisters, all of The Netherlands, and survived by one sister Hilda of France, and many nieces and nephews in Ontario and Europe. Jules immigrated to the Chatham area in 1935 and farmed in Raleigh Township. He had been a real estate broker in the Chatham-Kent area since 1952. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, July 2, 2007 from Noon until 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Dennis Wilhelm of St. Joseph's officiating. Interment St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham. Donations, made by cheque, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
