Obituary of Raymond J. Quenneville

Quenneville: Raymond John (F.C.G.A.): A resident of Chatham and formerly of Ridgetown and Thamesville, Ray Quenneville passed away suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus on Saturday October 20, 2007 at the age of 61 years. Born in Rochester Township, Essex County, son of the late Alexander and Jenny (Sonta) Quenneville. Beloved husband and business partner of Teresa (Firlotte) Quenneville. Dear father of Bill and Denise Quenneville of Belle River and their children Ryan and Ashley, and Bob and Andrea Quenneville of London and their son Max. Brother of Martin and Ruth Quenneville of St. Thomas and their daughters Arianne and Michelle; Jeannette and Don Carpenter of Sarnia and their children Kevin and Keith; Rosemary Quenneville of Sarnia; and Betty Gleeson of North Bay and her sons Eric and Ben. He will also be missed by many cousins and friends. Ray was very active in his profession having served on the Board of Governors of the Certified General Accountant in Ontario for 8 years. He also served as Chair of the Public Accounting Council of Canada for several years. Locally, he was a founding director and the past Chair of the Chatham-Kent C.G.A Association. In recognition of his dedicated service to his profession, Ray received many recognitions, including Life Memberships, Distinguished Honours and the highest honour, only given to a few accountants in Canada, a "Fellow Certified General Accountant" (F.C.G.A.). Ray was also very active in his community having served as Chair of the Housing Authority of Chatham-Kent. Ray was a Rotarian, having been a member of both the Thamesville and Ridgetown Clubs. He served as Rotary President on 3 occasions and was made a Paul Harris Fellow. Professionally, Ray owned his own accounting practice for over 40 years and for more than 25 years was president of the Ridgetown Financial Services. The Quenneville Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday October 22, 2007 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ursula’s Catholic Church, 205 Tweedsmuir Avenue West, Chatham with Rev. Fr. Dan Vere, Celebrant. Parish Prayers at the Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society appreciated.
