Obituary of Wayne Brearley

BREARLEY: Wayne A resident of Chatham, Wayne Brearley passed away with his family by his side on Thursday November 1, 2007 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Beloved husband of Judy Brearley. Dearest father of one daughter Jill (Jeff) Phelan of Blenheim, and Grampa Wayne to his cherished granddaughters Brook-Lyn & Megan Phelan. He will be sadly missed by canine companions Ruff & Reddy. Favourite son-in-law of Marjorie Heath of Chatham, and brother-in-law of Jill Gilbrook, Darryl Heath, and Jim Heath, all of Chatham. Loved nephew of Bob Brearley (Janice) of St. Thomas, Betty (Joe) Martin of Chatham, Mary Campbell of Windsor, and Maude McDonald of Bothwell. Dear uncle and great uncle of Brad, Cassandra, Joe, Michelle, and Zachary. Also survived by one sister Lorraine Gill of London. Predeceased by his parents Mae (2003) and Jack (2004) Brearley of Bothwell. Wayne retired from Navistar International in 2000 and enjoyed a busy life of golfing, fishing, and hunting. He will be greatly missed by so many friends and neighbours, always being there to lend a helping hand or with a good recipe. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Sunday November 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date.
