Obituary of John Mackay

Mackay: John Henderson. A resident of Ridgetown and formerly of Mississauga and Michigan, John H. Mackay passed away at the Village Nursing Home, Ridgetown on Thursday November 1st, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Born in Ridgetown, son of the late George W. and Elizabeth (Bayly) Mackay. Beloved husband of Jacquelyn J. (Douglass) Mackay and the late Helen M. (Pierce) Mackay (1989). Dear father of Douglas and Debbie Mackay of Oakville and Jane and Peter Dundas of Whitby. Step-father of Peggy and Mike Crumb of Portland, Michigan, Jill and Patrick Summersgill of Waynesburg, Pa. and David and Lisa Tomlin of Alaska. Grandfather of 6 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter, 7 Step Grandchildren and 4 Great Step Grandchildren. Also surviving is a chosen sister Roberta and Don McLean of Harrow, his mother-in-law Dorothy Douglass of Howell Mi., brother-in-laws John and Debi Douglass of Fowlerville, Mi., and Jerry and Jackie Douglass of Howell, Mi., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st born infant son John Dale Mackay and his special dog Mandy. Over the years, John loved his hobby of steam engines and steam shows, his family, his friends, sports, kids and lots of conversation. He spent most of his career in sales. The Mackay Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Saturday from 2:00-4:30 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Al McIntyre officiating. Private Family Interment on Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
