Obituary of Douglas Lewis

LEWIS; Douglas Haig, a resident of Shrewsbury and formerly of Detroit. Douglas H. Lewis passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Born in Chatham son of the late Clarence and Jessie Belle (Fields) Lewis. Beloved husband of Cecilia (Perossier) Lewis and the late Annabell Johnson (2001). Dear father of Douglas Lewis Jr. of Detroit. Grandfather of Montoya, Arrealia, Jessica, Tiffany, Norman and Tia. Great-grandfather of Damonte, Charity, Samson, Dayana, Julia, Malia and Angeline. He was a retired supervisor in the Hydromatic Division of General Motors. He was the first black skilled tradesman in a management position with GM. Mr. Lewis was a very active churchman, past president of Blenheim Kiwanis Club, a founding member and past president of Shrewsbury Raglan Assembly and an avid golfer and bowler. The family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home “Ford Chapel”, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 7:00–9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Shrewsbury Baptist Church in Shrewsbury with Pastor Albert Lambkin and Pastor Germany E. Bennett Jr. officiating. Interment Shrewsbury Cemetery. Donations to the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance or charity of choice appreciated. (519)676-3451
